Did you know that we haven’t had a coronation since June 1953? That was nearly 70 years ago! The coronation of Charles III and his wife Camilla, as king and queen of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth, is scheduled for Saturday, 6 May 2023, at Westminster Abbey. Charles acceded to the throne on 8 September 2022, upon the death of his mother, Elizabeth II.

It’s amazing to witness this historic event. To mark the occasion, JustWears has made a limited edition men’s underpants collection which will go on general sale at the end of April.

The Inspiration:

The Crown Jewels are one of the most famous of the nation's treasures. They constitute the complete collection of royal regalia worldwide. Their long history spans almost a thousand years, and they are ceremonially used in the Coronation Service and at the State Opening of Parliament.

The JustWears design team began this collection by looking at the colour purple, symbolising royalty, as its elite status stems from the rarity and cost of the dye originally used to produce it. Purple fabric used to be so outrageously expensive that only rulers could afford it. All JustWears customers are deserving of the royal treatment when it comes to taking care of their crown jewels.

Next, the team wanted to represent elegance and traditional colours, so included Deep Sea Blue in the collection. Blue has always been associated with British regalia. In many paintings of important women in history, they are wearing blue, and blue is incorporated within many Royal Uniforms. This colour aims to pay respect to the late Queen Elizabeth and the tradition being upheld on May 6, 2023.

To finish off the collection, the team included Grey. This grey is a classical colour representing neutrality, balance and strength. Neutrality and balance because grey is between black and white. Strength because Grey is the colour of stone and granite; but don’t worry, they are still made with the same high-quality, super soft fabric and ergonomic design that JustWears pants are known for, to provide a supported yet natural feel for your king and two guards.
